Need help with finding my great grandfather's marriage to first wife.

Hi everyone.

I've been trying to find out about my great grandfather's (on my mom's side) first wife and their marriage, it's been a mystery for some time. I've tried my best to find it, but have been left scratching my head, all I've been able to find is his second marriage to Marie Ida CHIASSON in Athol, MA in Jan. 1924. I don't know a whole lot about my great grandmother, as she died when my grandma was to little to remember, all I know is her name. I was hoping finding the record of their marriage would help uncover her birth date, parents names, etc. Could you guys help me out? I'm stumped...

My great grandfather was Joseph Paul DUGUAY  b.) 7/4/1895 Shippagan, New Brunswick.  d.) 4/11/1952 Athol, Massachusetts

My great grandmother's name was Marion (Marian?) ROUSSEL (Roussell, Rousselle?). She was born in Canada, (probably New Brunswick?) and they would've been married in Canada too, as they didn't migrate until 1923-24 when my grandma was born. Any help you can give me would be awesome.

The Massachusetts Marriage Index has this....

Joseph Duguay
Marion Roussel
Both entries Athol 1921 Vol 2 Pg 415
The certificate should hopefully give you parents' names etc.

The US Social Security Apps and Claims Index indicates their daughter Emilie Marie was born 20 June 1922 at Athol (Mass). There is an entry in the Massachusetts Birth Index for an Emily Duguay in 1922. Possibly her....you would need the certificate to be sure.

The 1930 US Census has 1920 down as Joseph's year of entry and has Massachusetts as the birth place for Emily/Emilie.

Find a Grave has a death date of 23 July 1923 for Marion.

Wow! Emilie was my grandma. This must be them, strange that my great grandparents married in MA, was always told it was in Canada...maybe there was a misunderstanding in the family? Anyway thank you so much!

Find a Grave has her as Marianne b. 24 Sept. 1897 Shippagan, New Brunswick. A member
has added a comment, that they had found her birth in Shippagan and that her
parents are Thaddee C. Roussel and Venerande Roussel.
