William Sheppard Grimwade
« on: Sunday 28 January 18 15:21 GMT (UK) »
William was born 1807 and died 1888. I believe he married twice. The second wife was Elizabeth Rosa Hill and they married 1847, Depwade. Looking for her village if it can be found.
I also notice that he married Q3 1843. I believe his wife was Anne or Anna Maria, possibly Farrow. I can find a death but not a marriage with her name. Any help with this family would be most helpful. There may be a connection to Broughton Hall, Stonham Aspall where a son by the second marriage later farmed.

All the census for Elizabeth Rosa records her birthplace a Finsbury all but for 1851 which has her birthplace as Sun Street, Middlesex.

The marriage q3 1843 Hartismere for William records Maria Anna Farrow on the same page. Surely this must be his first marriage?

Her death records her name as Anna Maria Grimwade (1845)

Thanks I looked for Anna Maria, I didn't look for marriages for Maria Anna. Her daughter was an Anna!
Elizabeth Rosa marriage definitely was in Depwade, so wonder if she had been working as a servant or ladies companion. People at that time were extremely class conscious and would expect that Elizabeth would have been of similar status. William was an auctioneer and appears to have moved to Broughton Hall, a 16C moated Manor House, between 1841 and 1848. 1841 Census shows him at Aldham near Hadleigh.
