Garwelfoot, Scotland.

I'm hoping to find out some information about a place called Garwelfoot in Scotland. I have it listed as the birth place for at least two ancestors. The first in 1794 and the other a couple of years later.
I can't find it on a map and there's very little information about it online.
Many others in the same family were born and lived in West Linton so I presume it's somewhere close.

Sandie, have you seen the original writing on the parish registers, or is the place name from transcriptions? Is the place name Garwelfoot on all records you have found or does the name vary?

I'm off to have a look around to see if I can spot it. 

Added: I did a bit of googling and found that the place name does exist - sometimes there are misspellings and misinterpretations of PRs hence my question.

Hi Ruskie, I've downloaded birth documents from Scotlands People so it's the actual hand-written entries. I've been in touch with a distant cousin who also shares some ancestors. He was born in Scotland and he told me it was (or is) a small place south of West Linton.

You should ask your cousin whereabouts exactly it is. 

I am not familiar with the area, but the minimal googling I've done so for I think it looks like West Linton is the parish and Linton was the (county?) town? But now the town is called West Linton? Maybe?

I will see if I can find another map which shows it more clearly.
