Best sites for finding emigration and death records Australia

Hi everyone, so pleased to of found this site as I seem to be the only one in my family with this obsession for ancestry! 

I am a member on ancestry.co.uk but have drawn a blank on a relative who according to a family member emigrated to Australia in the 1970's and died there in 2006. Is there a better place to access these types of records?

The original information my relative got from salvation army but the relative has died themselves since and as it is on my fathers side and I am illegitimate the salvation army will not let me access the results of their search either.

I have the ancestors date of birth from a wedding certificate from 1960's but I have been unable to identify his birth certificate out of a lot of options so far.

Electoral rolls to about 1980 ish are on Ancestry and can be useful.

Do you know what state in Australia they lived in? Was the 1960s marriage certificate an Australian one?

Trove is also a good site for old newspaper announcements though there may not be information this recent included.

Burial/cemetery records if you know their last place of residence.

Many thanks for your Ruskie, I have looked on the Uk ancestry but very few results for Australia seem to come up. I was told his death was registered to Perth so I am guessing he lived in that area but may not of in the 1980's. He also likely got married in Australia and took Australia citizenship.

You say it is "likely" he married in Australia - and you also say you got his date of birth from his 1960s marriage certificate. Is this an Australian certificate?

As he is deceased you can tell us his name, date of birth and any other details if you wish to do so. Do not mention other family members who may still be living.

You could check the Ryerson Index.

It is an index of death notices in Australian newspapers.  If there is anything it would give you a date to follow up on.  As it is run by volunteers not everything is indexed.

He was married here (UK) in the 60's but was divorced and I was told he married either just before he left for or just after he arrived in Australia (1970-71) but it could of been later. His name is Anthony James Read dob 22 05 1935. His father was Percy James Read. I have no date for his death except the year 2006 and the location as Perth. The marriage I have the cert for was 1964 in Watford.  He was also married before (likely 1950's) that as it mentions marriage dissolved on the certificate.
