Or Tailor possibly - what area is it from?  Near the sea or not?

A bigger clip would be could to compare letter formation!  ;)

I thought Sailor before reading other replies.

I think the more you look at these things the more you have second thoughts .... such as Tailor perhaps?

I would check his occupation on censuses to confirm - assuming he appears on censuses.

Added: sorry Wiggy, I didn't notice you had already suggested Tailor. ::)

Maybe you didn't change the name of the file?!   :-\

Comparing with the 'S' of Spinster, as seen on the full cert. on the Westmeath board, I would say this man is a Sailor.
