Thanks for looking up the information.

As I currently don't know if Ann Snr could read and write more research will need to be done.

I have a Marriages at Aston Juxta where Ann Perkins signed and others where Ann put her X mark

Thomas Perkins (bachelor) m Eliza Vale (spinster) 28 July 1826 and witness Ann Perkins signed it
Ann Perkins (spinster) m George Humphries (bachelor) 16 April 1826 and Ann Perkins put her X mark
Richard Perkins m Harriet Kendrick 8 November 1823 (both put their x mark) and witness Ann Perkins put her X mark
William Perkins (bachelor) m Elizabeth Hall (spinster) 13 February 1825 (William and Elizabeth both signed) but witnesses Richard and Harriet Perkins put their X mark

If all the above are the same family, some could read and write and some couldn't as seen by Richard and William's marriages. It also looks like Ann the mother could write (Thomas's marriage) but Ann the daughter couldn't (her own).

I do not know if any of this will help and you may already be aware of it but I checked the births you mentioned, I found 5 children?

Thomas 1796 burial 10 Feb 1824 Birmingham, St Mary abode Hospital

Ann 1797 married George Humphries 16 Apr 1826 Aston both of Aston Rd according to Banns (Ann 25 in 1824, next Banns 1826 then 20) no family witnesses)

Richard 1799 married Harriet Kenderick 1823 Aston  *witnesses Ann & Wm

William 1800 married Elizabeth Hall 1825 Aston *witnesses Richard & Harriet

Sarah 1805 more than one possible marriage, no family witnesses.

A Thomas Perkins married Eliza Vale 28 July1826 Aston
*Witnesses Ann & Wm    (age on Banns 21 born about 1805)

The only other baptisms that I can find around that time is Thomas Perkins born 1806 son of Richard & Elizabeth. They also had Ann 1802 & William 1803 – no Richard) and Thomas Perkins baptised 1803 son of Thomas & Charlotte (only child maybe).

From the names maybe there is some family connections?

So did Ann senior witness the marriage of a Thomas Perkins by that time Ann junior was Humphries or was it his sister Ann 1802?

Widow Ann Perkins born about 1765 burial    19 Sep 1832 Birmingham, St Mary abode
Water St.

Colin
Clarke, Trickett, Orton, Lawless, Norton, Detheridge, Kirby, Goodfellow, Wagstaff, Lowe, etc.

ColC regarding the marriage of Thomas Perkins to Eliza Vale by Banns age 21.

Have you access to the Banns itself?

The Marriage registration number 543 that I have a copy of doesn't appear to have any ages on it that I can see.

I have a marriage of Elizabeth Perkins to John Cox 28 July 1826 entry number 296 witnesses John ? and Sarah Coleman

John Cox was a witness at Ann Perkins m to George Humphries 16 April 1826 entry 444

Sarah who married George Morris 5 June 1825 Aston was a widow.

kind regards,

Wayne

The image for the Banns is available on Ancestry.  Thomas is aged 21, a bachelor, and Eliza is aged 22, a spinster, and both are from Bordesley.

Transcriptions and NBI are merely finding aids.  They are NOT a substitute for original record entries.

ColC do the witness's help identify the correct Sarah Perkins? Like the Ann and Elizabeth I have above example John Cox husband on one, witness on the other. to me shows a possible connection of some sort. It is the Elizabeths that appear to have different names.

Does the banns for this Elizabeth match up with the christening I have?
