1891 Census - Children's Emigration Homes Birmingham

Good Morning All,

Could anyone tell me if it is possible to check the 1891 census records of the Children's Emigration Home in St. Luke's Road Highgate Birmingham? Can you search by address?

I am looking for William Archibald Neathway born around 1888 in Bredicot Worcestershire out of wedlock. He then disappeared until he was put on the ship Siberian in 1897 and shipped to New Brunswick in Canada. I believe he was one of the Middlemore Home Children - known as the Children's Emigration Home in 1891.

I know this doesn't answer the question, but it gives a little more background. Birth registered in Droitwich District June quarter 1887. Source: GRO indexes. Vol-6c, Page-351, MMN-not stated. Bredicot is not in Droitwich District, it is in Pershore District. Perhaps the mother went away for the birth?

In 1891 there were 65 children in Middlemore Homes for Emigrating Waifs and Strays.  The youngest aged 7 years and the eldest aged 15 years. William Archibald Neathway would have been aged 3-4 years at the time of the census and does not appear on the return for Middlemore Homes.

There's a William Neathway age 4 inmate Manchester workhouse but birthplace shown as Patricroft Lancs.   

Can't see a birth for a William in Lancs so wouldn't rule it out just yet.

There are 3 William Neathway births - the one in Droitwich and the other two are in Axbridge Somerset.

Who was his mother 

The answer may be given by laconwem.
In the 1881 England Census for Astley, Worcestershire there is a family headed by William Neathway, a Farm Bailiff, aged 45. His wife is Sarah aged 47. They have three daughters all unmarried. Sarah aged 20 born Bredicot, Emily aged 12 born Bredicot and Florence aged 7 born Bredicot.

Emily seems the most elusive after 1881.  Other sisters can be found. 

Added - a family tree has Emily as the mother of William Archibald and her marriage the following year to James Etheridge.

Droitwich is probably correct. Emily Neathway was the mother. I will work on some of the info you have provided. I've just tracked down his family in New Brunswick so maybe they will have some more information on this. Strange he doesn't readily appear in the census though..
