Searching for family of John Drake from Gloucestershire
« on: Thursday 01 February 18 10:45 GMT (UK) »
Hello. I am searching for information about John Drake (b. 1640) in English Bicknor, Gloucestershire. According to FamilySearch his parents are William and Jane Drake.  I have information about John's baptism date, 20 Nov 1640, but no information about William and/or Jane.  I would like find biographical information about William and Jane and perhaps find out if John had any siblings.

Any assistance is appreciated.  I don't pay a fee to FindMyPast or Ancestry, so they aren't helpful.

Hi

Nov 20th 1640 was the date of John's BURIAL. It doesn't say how old he was.

There is a marriage at GOODRICH on Nov 30th 1634 which could fit?

William Drake to Jane Jones.

In this record the forename of the bride was not clear so best guess given. Forename translated from Latin Gulielmus and Jana

Yes, those are the names I found; however, I found John's dates as his baptism dates, not his burial dates.  I translated the names from Latin to English.

OK. Mine was a Transcription from the Parish Records published on The Forest of Dean Family History Trust. http://forest-of-dean.net/joomla/index.php

I will ask them to check it!

Hi

FoD Admin has viewed the image on Ancestry and it is indeed a baptism.
One correction going in!

Cheers
