Hugh Quinn Death 1915
« on: Friday 02 February 18 06:08 GMT (UK) »
Hi, Can anyone read the date and place of death on the left and the witness name and location on the right? I think the location might be Killeter in Longford. Witness might be his son, something Quinn.
Thanks

Toby (?) Quinn
Son

The places look the same - something with "ll" in the middle, but I can't make out the rest..!

A Hugh Quinn death, aged 64,  is recorded on UK FreeBMD for December Qtr 1915 with Registration being at Ashton under Lyne.  Could the place be somewhere in that area?

The death cert can be viewed on line at Irish Genealogy.

The registration district is Longford and there is a Killeter to the north west. Looking at other entries on the schedule the last two characters of the place name appear to be "er".

Thirtieth October.

The dot of the second "i" is next to the "5"  in 15.

I suggested "Toby" because the first letter is exactly the same as the first letter in "Thirteenth" (or "Thirtieth").
But what would then be a "b" is the same as the "h" in thirteenth. And the last letter is missing the lower stroke of the "y".  ???
So all in all, I expect you are all right with "John"!   :)
