Henry Willmott's (1738-1807) family
« on: Friday 02 February 18 12:51 GMT (UK) »
Henry married Albertina Haselwood/Hazelwood, daughter of Robert Has/zelwood and Albertina Landael on 21 May 1764 at St Mary' Hornsey.
From what I can gather there were lots of children , possibly 10 or more, many of whom died in infancy. Those who died young would have been buried at Hornsey as were both Henry and Albertina. Any info on any of the above with dates and places would be a great help.
Henry and Albertina may have had a son Daniel who was possibly an innkeeper at Rotherhithe.
Burt, Cockrill, Craske, Debenham, Double, Grimwade, Grimwood, Hilder, Mayhew, Ray. All from  West Suffolk around the Bury St. Edmunds area.
Simpson, Pittendreigh, Arthur.   Aberdeenshire

Yes thanks Rosie, The original mediaeval church was too small so the tower was kept and a new church was built next to it. this was demolished in 1927 and the replacement larger church was moved to a different location, but even this was demolished in 1969 when the foundations were found to be on poor subsoil and cracks appeared in the building. The family would have been buried at the old original site.

Thanks Ciderdrinker. Those were the 10 names I had, but didn't have any dates or place references. I presume that these are Baptism/Christening dates? They are close together.

Hello
Yes they are baptisms.
I've managed to get my computer working better this morning and Harriet's does give a birth date 28th September 1768 and a baptism 9.10.1768 on the original(rather than the index)
I couldn't get the image to load yesterday.

Mother Albertina age 44 from Tottenham buried Hornsey 14 Feb 1789.
Possible Henry buried  9th May 1802 age 63 years of Edgware at Hornsey.

Thomas of the parish of Tottenham 23.1.1780 at Hornsey  (no parents)

Going through the children it looks like
Albertina Wilmot married Charles Jones of the parish of St Clements  by licence 19 Jan 1793 St James Westminster both signed, wit Thomas Price and Charlotte Jones.
She was buried in the parish 12.6.1830.Age 65 of Hayes Middlesex.

His PCC Will 1834 leaves everything to wife Ann.(of Europa Inn)
Daniel junior leaves a PCC Will 1837 mentioning his late aunt Lucretia Reid .

Henry Senior a victim of crime when his two horses were stolen 1783 -Old Bailey site and seemingly involved again 1774 and 1785 London Lives site.

I dont know if you're still looking into this family but would be interesting in finding out if you've made any further progress.  Henry and Albertina's son, Edward Willmott was my 3rd great-grandfather.

They also had another daughter, Amelia who was born between Albertina and Harriet.  If I remember correctly she married Henry Pistor, a clockmaker.

The son Daniel (full name I think was Daniel William) married a woman called Mary Ann Hewitt Doubtfire and had another two daughters by her, one of them marrying Sebastian Smith, son of a former Lord Mayor of London.  I think Mary Ann died soon after the birth of the second child and Daniel then later married his second wife Ann Morley. Daniel and Ann had a tavern called the Europa Inn in Rotherhithe which Ann carried on running after Daniel's death but which burnt down shortly afterwards.

Daniel was an interesting character and appears to have been involved in many business activities.  His children married particularly well.  I have a bit more information about him and the other children of Henry & Albertina.

Are you related to this family?

Regards,
Chris
