Seeking Sargeant Major Russell

I am seeking any info on a Robert Welsh Bissett (Russell - took this name later in life) who was born 1877 in Motherwell/Glasgow. In 1921 he took his family to Dublin, we are told he was a Sargeant Major and possibly he could have worked at Collin Barracks 1921-1930 (or to his death in1956). I was told they returned to Scotland c1930 because Robert died but have been now told he died in 1956.
I am also looking to confirm that Maggie S Russell (nee Hamilton) & daughter Ellen also lived in Dublin.
There has been a great number of lies told to cover up this family by the family,, therefore I am trying to gather as much info as possible.
I am trying also to find out where Ellen (the daughter) was between 1930, when she was 9 to her marriage in Nottingham c1940's.

Short Attestation Paper is dated 22 Oct 1894.
Robert Welsh Bissett age 18yrs and 1month
His papers state that he was a millworker and lived in Troqueer, Maxwelton. Kirkcudbrightshire
He was a currently serving in 3/KOSB and wished to become a full time soldier in the same regiment.

He was discharged after 3 days. "Not likely to become an efficient soldier"

Did he become a Sergeant Major?

Robert Welsh Bissett of Troqueer, Maxwelton, Kirkcudbright made a 2nd, succesfull attempt to join the Military.
On 10 Dec 1895 he joined the Royal Scots Fusilliers
He served from 12 Dec 1895
Served in the East Indies from 20 Dec 1897 until 3 Jan 1904
He transferred to Army Reserve on 16 Jan 1904 and served at home until he was discharged on 9 Dec 1911
His rank throughout was: Private
His contact was his sister: Mrs Brown at a given address in Dumfries

Yes he married Robins Kirk, then Maggie Hamilton in 1911. For some reason he took the name Russell, reinventing himself or hiding? His real name was Robert Welsh Bissett & added Russell on his marriage certificate to Maggie. The family legend had it that he became a sergeant Major. When Ellen was 3, Maggie took her family to Ireland with or without Robert. Seems everything we were told about him was a lie.
I am trying to find out about him which is very difficult, as I need to clarify where he was between 1921 when Ellen their daughter was born & 1930 when they were told he had massive heart attack & they returned to Scotland. Although I found that he didn't die to 1956.
Please could you give me the address for Mrs Brown his sister.

The address for his sister:
Mrs Brown 17 1/2 North Queensferry Street, Dumfries.

To recap.
This man was a Private in The Royal Scots Fusilliers
He spent a total of 8yrs as a serving soldier and another 7 as a reservist.
He hadn't been a full time soldier since 1904

At 1911, he would be around 34yrs old when he was  fully discharged.
He does not appear to have risen in ranks at all.

 I can't locate a WW1 record for him either
For him to become a Sergeant Major doesn't quite add up

There is a tree on Ancestry for this man which has his 1959 death cert attached.
It confirms that he was married to both women listed.

This record states that at time of death he was a Canteen Assistant.
It also says that he had been an Army and Air Force Subsitite which, I assume means :Reservist

The birth info provided for his son b 1917 on this tree states that Robert was a Railway Guard and Sapper in Royal Engineers.

I wonder if the term Segeant Major was not an occupation but, a description of his temperament?
