Looks like this is them in 1900:  https://www.familysearch.org/ark:/61903/1:1:MSL8-5S8  With the number of sons they had, I was hoping a marriage record or something would turn up for one of them, but I haven't found anything yet.

This doesn't entirely help with your question, but in the Utica (New York) Morning Telegram from 16 Nov. 1920 on www.fultonhistory.com, it says a divorce decree was granted due to desertion in a case of Ida F. & Leon E. Vanderwarker.  They were married in Oneonta in Dec. 1904, afterward came to live in Utica, and parted in 1910.  It was alleged that Leon went to Buffalo and had "rooms for light housekeeping with another woman."

Unfortunately, New York state marriage records from 1904 aren't online.

Looks like William was widowed by 1910 - https://www.familysearch.org/ark:/61903/1:1:M545-6T1  I tried looking for Bertha in the New York death index, but none that I have found seem to fit that time frame.  Maybe she died elsewhere or wasn't really dead as of 1910?
