Mary Ellen and Sarah Brown

I am trying to find what happened to 2 sisters:

Mary Ellen Brown - b.14 March 1902 Newcastle upon Tyne;

Sarah Brown - b.28 September 1904 Newcastle upon Tyne.

Mary Ellen was actually born Mary Ellen Lamb as her parents didn't marry until after her birth.

Her parents were Mary Lamb 1881-1914 and Matthew Brown 1882-1920.

They are living together in Elswick in 1911.

Mother Mary died in 1914.

Matthew died in 1920, seemingly as the result of war wounds as his army record states 'Died.'

That's where his daughters birth dates come from.

Also mentioned on his war record is maintenance he has to pay for the daughter of Mary McGovern born December 1917.

The record doesn't look like 'McGovern' but in 1911 at that address is living a Mary McGovern.

I can't find what happened to Mary Ellen Brown or Sarah Brown.

No obvious marriages in Newcastle (a Sarah Brown marries a Bowlt in 1923, but it looks like she died in 1932 aged 31 so I have discounted it).

I thought maybe the were sent to a foreign country on the death of her mother but I can't find anything obvious.

I have looked for all Mary and Sarah in the 1939 Register with those birth dates but all leads mean it isn't them

Can anybody help?

I think the mother's name who he paid maintenance to was called Mary McGovern.

It doesn't name the child on the record.

Hi again.

 I have just searched Mary Ellen Brown and Sarah Brown's uncle John Henry Lamb (born 1883) in the 1939 Register Newcastle and he has a Mary Brown living with him born 1903.

 I suspect that is the Mary Brown I'm looking for albeit she was born in 1902.

There is also a Sarah Kerr (Brown) also born 1903 living there which I suspect is my Sarah (albeit born 1904).

 I only have free access. Can anybody give me any more details as to who is in the household?
And dates of births please.

I've solved it.

It is Mary Brown born 14 March 1902 and Sarah Brown born 28 September 1904.

For some reason, Matthew Brown's Army Record has 2 birth dates for them

Mary Brown 10 Jan 1903
Sarah Brown 23 Dec 1903

And these are the dates of births that they are in the household of John Henry Lamb as.
