Rockcliffe House, Aycliffe
« on: Saturday 03 February 18 12:00 GMT (UK) »
Hi. I have finally managed to get hold of a copy of my great aunt's will from 1952. The witnesses are HC Hower and AL Hower of Rockcliffe House Aycliffe. My aunt died at 'Oakleigh' Aycliffe and dad always talked about her friends but couldn't remember the names.
I have tried every genealogy site and Google to find out anything about them but the name and address don't come up. Having said thatI have no idea where 'Oakleigh' is either, Aunt Annie lived in a farm in Heighington until she got older and moved.
Does anyone know anything about these two addresses, I think that if I find one then i will find the other!
Thanks
Alison

Looking at the enumerator's books for the 1911, Rockcliffe House and Oakleigh were next door to each other.

Thank you Kay and Jen, these must have been the friends that dad talked about, brilliant!

I feel quite emotional, I can see where Aunt Annie (and her sister Aunt Margaret) lived and picture them with their neighbours - a big thank you
