Shipping floundered off the Isle of wight.
« on: Saturday 03 February 18 12:28 GMT (UK) »
Hi
I have been asked to enquire about 2 Schooners that were wrecked in 1859 off the Isle of Wight.
Their names are:-

Jane.
Sentinel.

My problem is, I have no idea of where to start. Any help will be muchly appreciated.
Thank you in advance.
Richard.

Appears Sentinel wrecked on 4 Dec 1859, there's a report in Hampshire Advertiser 10 Dec 1859 on findmypast or British Newspaper Archive [both subscription or pay per view sites]. 14 lives lost. Another ship, the Mirabita also lost that night.
