Help please. Louisa Gosney born Oct quarter 1854 in Sherborne Dorset parents Thomas and Maria.
In Oct. Q 1881she marries James Northam b. 1859 Yeovil Somerset. In the 1881 census she is living with her mother. I cannot find any info. on either James or Louisa after their marriage.
Many thanks

It would appear that Thomas and Henry born q2 1883 died in q2 1883, Sherborne.

However we now know that Louis was alive in 1906 (marriage) so hopefully that will lead up to Louisa or James.

Now this looks interesting..............

1891 -
James C Chick   39
Louisa Chick   35 b. Sherborne, Dorset
George Chick   9 b. Sherborne, Dorset
Ada C Chick   11/12
Emily L Chick   2/12

RG12 Piece 1044 Folio 68 Page 4

Birth record for Ada -

Ada Catterick Chick
q2 1890, Hendon
Vol 3a Page 184
Mother's maiden name - Gosney

Wonder if James and Louisa changed their names or Louisa remarried.

In 1881 James Catterick Chick was living in Sherborne, Dorset with his wife Emily.

Emily died in 19 May 1886, Sherborne. She left an estate of £1045 5s 4d but her husband James was not left a penny.

James would now be free to marry again, however I cannot see a marriage for him to Louisa, perhaps they never married.

You are quite right, however a newspaper article for a court case regarding James and his deceased wife recorded that James was not left any money in Emily's will.  :)
