Our Lady of Victories, Easington

Hello,
Does anyone have access to baptism records for Our Lady of Victories in Easington?

If so, I would be very grateful for a look-up for my g.grandfather's baptism.

His name was Abel Ellison. He was born in Monkwearmouth in 1868, but I believe he was baptised in Easington.
Father's name : Alfred Ellison
Mother's name : Jane Rogers

Durham Record Office have registers for this parish

Durham Records Online don't have transcriptions for this parish
Free Reg don't have them either

I would think the DRO would be your best bet, if no one else comes up with anything

A note against the church name says: "Baptisms did not record the father's occupation, but most include the mother's maiden surname. From 1923-1933 marriages here were mixed with marriages from St. Mary's RC. Catholic marriages do not record ages or occupations."

You are quite right, (apologies!) what I should have said was that there are no Ellison baptisms.

Having looked again there is a baptism for an Abel ALLISON, parents Alfred & Jane on 31 July 1870 but that is at St Saviour, Shotton with Haswell and that is an Anglican Church.

That's really interesting as in 1871 the family is recorded as living at Shotton Colliery.

I had the info re the Easington baptism from a family member, but he could be wrong.

Abel was certainly married in an R.C. church and his religion is given at his burial, but maybe he was a convert.

I looked at some of the census returns, the 1871 shows that the parents originated in Lancashire
Lancs BMD has a marriage (1855) for Alfred Ellison and Jane Rogers, at All Saints Wigan (Anglican).

I can see Anglican baptisms on ancestry for the other two children listed in 1871.

ADDED both baptisms in Lancs

Do you have the RC Parish marriage entry for Abel's marriage? That 'may' give a clue as to when he decided to convert. 'Disp' usually indicates a dispensation was obtained if one of the parties was not RC.
Have you looked into his wife's side of the family, if they were all RC then that could explain it?
