 I am trying to find out what regiment john was in , he was born 1909 hanham Bristol my cousin found a photo of him in uniform but we don't know what regiment any info most welcome cheers m

You could post the photo for identification.  Army records for World war 2 are still with the M O D

Service Records of those personnel serving after 1920 are still with the MOD.

There will be a fee of £30, and you will need his death certificate.

So this presumably is John's birth registration

This is his marriage?

Not unknown for someone called John to be known as Jack.

The 1939 Register gives his birth date as 4 July 1909.  His occupation is labourer (incapacitated) - presumably not a significant one if he was in the army. Family are living in Bristol.
