Epson SX130 3-in-one. Scanner not working.

It runs the preview ok,  but it won't allow me to scan and save the file. Once the scan button is pressed it freezes.    It's works perfectly previously.  I have tried all the available suggestions online, including re-installing the software.  Copies ok.  OS is Windows 7.  Any suggestions, please?

I have an Eposn which often tells me it's not working.

I usually turn the scanner/printer off,leave it 5 mins and turn it back on.

That's after I've twiddled the bit where the lead fits into my computer tower.

It'll work again for a month or so and then stop again.

Good luck. Hope yours isn't more technical or expensive than my solution.

is it connected by cable or WiFi?   if wireless, try with a cable to see if problem still occurs. Try wireless after restarting your WiFi router.
Failing that, given you have re-installed software etc, then it's presumably faulty, and unfortunately, probably beyond economic repair. New scanners, or all-in-one printers/scanners are very cheap.

Thank you Carol and Greenrig.  It's connected by cable to the tower.  I have a preference for Win 7 and fear will have difficulty finding a compatible replacement printer.  I agree they are quite cheap.  Thank you again.

No mention of uninstalling the printer and scanner, note 2 programs used.
