Rebecca Wilhemina Warren b1863 Scotland, 1871 in West Derby, Lancashire
« on: Sunday 04 February 18 00:30 GMT (UK) »
I am trying to find out where Rebecca went to after the 1871 Census. Her parents, William Fenner Warren and Margaret Russell, took the rest of the family to New York.
She may have married but I haven't been able to find any reference to one and I have had no luck with 1881 either.
Any ideas would be very welcome.

Is Rebecca Wilhemina Warren listed as Ina (short for Wilhemina?) in 1881 living with the family in New York??

William Warren    57
Margaret Warren 53
Ina Warren 16 Scotland
Grace Warren 15
Allen Warren 10

Kay

Added -In 1901 Ina appears to be still with the family listed as Ina R  - I wonder if the birth of 1869 is a mistake  :-\

I never thought of that, Kay99. It is worth looking into. Thank you  for that idea.

New York Newspapers  http://www.fultonhistory.com/Fulton.html

Search for "ina r warren". There's a notice in the Niagara Falls Gazette, Apr 18 1951 which "fits" the occupation of an Ina R Warren on the 1901,1910, 1920 and 1930 censuses - although the census info is "inconsistent".

I will check out these ideas. As I hadn't been able to find any
registration for the birth of Ina R Warren, it is quite possible that
Rebecca Wilhelmina became Ina R.
Thanks Jackie

Just noticed Wilhemina's mother's maiden name - which links to the 1930 census.

Also looking at the 1930 Census, although single, she has an
adopted son, Jack. Thank you for the prompts.

The New York state death index has an entry for Ina R. Warren who died 18 Apr 1951 in Buffalo.  Her age was listed as 73.

On www.fultonhistory.com, there are obituaries, death notices, and article about her estate for this Ina that give her middle name as Russele or Russelle.  The most detailed obituary says she was born 3 Sep. 1877 in London, England to the late William Fenner and Margaret Davies Warren.  It says they lived in Ottawa, Ontario for a time, and then came to Buffalo.  It also says that her adopted son Jack Teller Warren died four years ago due to an auto accident.  The article about her estate says she left money for Jack's children.

The NY state death index has a death for Jack T. Warren, age 28, on 9 Aug 1948 in Olean.  His burial appears to be here - https://www.findagrave.com/memorial/121480985

It looks like Ina wrote a bunch of books:  http://onlinebooks.library.upenn.edu/webbin/book/lookupname?key=Warren%2C%20Ina%20Russelle

If you do a search for the exact phrase "Jack Teller Warren" on fultonhistory.com, the obituaries for Jack & Ina, as well as other articles, should come up.

There is someone who was related to Ina looking for information about her here - https://www.ancestry.se/boards/localities.northam.usa.states.newyork.counties.erie/3154/mb.ashx?pnt=1
