whitchurch plane crash

in 1941 a john[jack] proctor was killed in a plane crash  near tern hill , Whitchurch. he was aged 24 and was in the [air force]  any help please

Have you found a death registration for him on GRO index

not as yet I know he came from stoke in Coventry.

If he died in the UK there should be a death certificate.  If he was serving in the RAF when it happened in WW2 I would have thought it should be on the Commonwealth war graves web site.

That’s a good find Joel,  ties in with 605 squadron raf a reserve squadron based at Ternhill late March to end of May 1941, flying hurricane 1s.

There was also a Canadian squadron there at the same time

One of Tern Hills uses was as a temporary base for fighters protecting the midland industries from German bombers

Their arrival in late March coincides with renewed German bombing raids, especially Coventry, 8,9,10th April, did intelligence provide us with advanced warning.
