The O Shaughnessy details seem plausible  Patrick died in Patea same place thomas william was born so possible family emigrated from UK where mary ellen was born. Will have a look in UK for them Tks again

You could order a copy of the marriage, that would give you  more information:
https://www.bdmhistoricalrecords.dia.govt.nz/

It should confirm her parents' names.

Hi ballydw

Do be sure if ordering a New Zealand marriage (birth or death) record, that you request a "Printout" copy (rather than a certificate).   This is a copy of the register entry and gives the most amount of information available.    ;)

I have some additional info for Mary JACKSON (O'SHAUGHNESSY) to follow.

Thank you Lu look forward to info on Mary Jackson. Have since found details on Thomas Matheson Jackson cemetery internment. He was a Sea Captain died 20th April 1937 age 69(ties in with his birth 1868) Hawera General Episcopalian cemetery.
Ref the marriage of Thomas to Mary Ellen Shaughnessy I found the entry on NZ gov site but she is recorded as Mary EDEN O Shaughnessey :)

Hi ballydw

The following link is to the Probate file for Mary JACKSON of New Plymouth, Taranaki (Year: 1919) ... which includes a copy of her Will.

https://www.familysearch.org/ark:/61903/3:1:3QS7-99CX-YZGP?i=39&wc=7HG9-F37%3A1045249501%2C1045722301%3Fcc%3D1865481&cc=1865481

At Image # 42 of the record, Thomas Matheson JACKSON in his affidavit, confirms that Mary was born* at London, England ... and that he was born at Liverpool, England.

[* I have a transcription of the baptism for Mary, to follow. ]

Hi ballydw

Yes, a couple of spelling errors in that NZ BDM (online) listing.   ::)   ;D
[From another resource (NZSG Marriages), I have the listing as "Mary Ellen" with surname spelled as "O'SHAUGHNESSEY". ]

But the listing at NZ BDM is the one you order from*.   :)

NZ Marriage

1895 / 2743
Mary Eden O'SHAUGHNESSEY - Thomas Matheson JACKSON
------

*  You may of course want a copy of the Marriage record anyway, but the Baptism record I'm about to post, gives her parent's details.    ;)

Hi ballydw

Mary's baptism :

Note:   On the image for this baptism record, the details are handwritten onto what I believe is a standard typeset form in Latin, as used by the Roman Catholic Church.   My transcription here, is (mostly) in English.   Note 2 :    The Registration of Mary's birth appears to have been in the JUN quarter of 1866 .    However, the year of birth on the baptism record has been entered as "1867".

ENG - Roman Catholic Baptisms :
[Source:   FindMyPast ]

Church :  Our Lady  -  St John's Wood, Middlesex
Deanery:  Marylebone, Westminster

Born:  10 May 1867*    (see earlier note)  [month written (in Latin) as "Maii"  ]
Baptised :   25 May 1867

Maria  O'SHAUGHNESSY

Father:  Patrick O'SHAUGHNESSY
Mother:   Maria   ( olim   FITZGERALD )   conjugum

Sponsors :
