Tapplyn/Taplyn in Oxfordshire
« on: Sunday 04 February 18 16:50 GMT (UK) »
Hello,

I'm looking for any parish records for the name Tapplyn/Taplyn or Taplin in Oxfordshire before 1700.

Last bit of solid evidence was for John Tapplyn born 1700 in Hook Norton but looking for info about his father (Richard Tapplyn) and grandfather (William Tapplyn). Richard and William possibly born in Hook Norton but there are also links to Taynton.

Any info would be greatly appreciated.

Best wishes,

Anna

Hi Anna
Welcome to Roots Chat
I have looked at the Oxfordshire Family History Society (OFHS) transcribed parish records on CD at Hook Norton and found the following.

Baptisms;
???? - s o Jno(John) and Jone (Joan) 12 April 1723 - name not entered and my interpretation of names in brackets
Sarah - d o John and Jone 15 Feb 1729/30
Thomas - s o John 11 Sept 1726
Richard -s o Jno and Jone 16 Feb 1732/3
Richard - s o John and Joan 10 Feb 1733/4
Anne - d o John and Joan 27 July 1735

Marriages
Ann to William Turner on 1 Jan 1746/7
John to Sarah Colin on 4 June 1750 - I reckon this chap is the baptism for which no name was entered - maybe?

Burials
Richard 20 Feb 1732/3
Richard 8 March 1733/4
John 25 Jan 1767
Jone 30 Sept 1767

Note there is no marriage for John & Joan either in the Hook Norton PR's nor in the OFHS index of marriages, so I reckon they married over the boarder in Gloucestershire or Warwickshire.
So I think your link to Hook Norton can be closed here as there are no others you mention.

Hope this helps
Nigel
