Looking for William Buckingham/Buckingim
« on: Sunday 04 February 18 22:05 GMT (UK) »
My 8th grt grandfather was William Buckingham.
He married a Mary.E 4 May 1736, Harborough Magna, Warwickshire.
It doesn't seem to List Mary's maiden name, Only lists her as 'Mary.E' so I'm not sure if the record is unreadable or not?
I think his burial is perhaps 23 Oct 1793 St Editha Monks Kirby, Warwickshire. (Williams daughter Dorchas marries there so could be a possibility) There is also a Monumental inscription linked to this burial but not sure what that is? A gravestone perhaps?
Im assuming that perhaps William was born around 1712?

The Oct. 1793 burial for William says he's from Easenhall. In July there's a burial for a Joseph Buckingham also of Easenhall. No ages given.

It looks like there may have been two Williams in the area and some family trees have mixed them up a bit. Warwickshire OPRs are on An……..try. Monks Kirby seems not to bad even if a little difficult to read in places. Harborough Magna is missing between the late 1690s and 1737.

William Buckingham married Elizabeth Pain 6 Jan 1722 Monks Kirby
Monks Kirby Records:
Thomas baptised 2 Feb 1722 abode Pailton,
William baptised 26 Aug 1724 abode Pailton,
Richard baptised 20 Feb 1725 abode Pailton,

Harborough Magna
Dorcas 1739 when she married Henry Thomas in 1765 Thomas Buckingham was a witness.
Ann 1741
John 1744 Monks Kirby (the record clearly shows Wm & Mary)

Several burials at Monks Kirby, one tree shows that Elizabeth Pain died in 1761 but did she die earlier and William married Mary?

Will Buckingham Burial 22 Sep 1730 Monks Kirby of Easenhall

Mary Buckingham Burial 7 Feb 1785 Monks Kirby widow of Easenhall pauper

William Buckingham burial Monks Kirby 23 Oct 1793 abode Easenhall

Colin
Clarke, Trickett, Orton, Lawless, Norton, Detheridge, Kirby, Goodfellow, Wagstaff, Lowe, etc.

Hello
I tried looking up the marriage on Ancestry but it's in a gap that is missing.the records start again 1737.
I did wonder if it was a second marriage for William with the first being to Elizabeth Pain 6.1.1722 at Monks Kirby
children Thomas 2.2.1722 of Pailton ,William 26.8.1724of Easenhall,Richard 20.2.1725 of Paiton/Ruiton
Elizabeth buried 20.2.1725 of Pailton at Monks Kirby

Then there is William and Mary's children- Dorcas 16.9.1739 HM,Ann 3.5.1741 HM,John 15.4.1744 Monks Kirby of Easenhall ,Anne 20.4.1746

Mary widow of Easenhall buried 7.2.1785 at Monks Kirby which could be wife Mary but if William didn't die until 1795 probably isn't.

The generation before looks like a William and Dorcas Buckingham of Easenhall
Rachel 27.2.1687  MK,Katherine 3.1.1691 HB,Rachel 18.12.1694  MK,Rachel 19.5.1696 MK ,William 6.3.1698 Mk (indexed with no surname but readable on original),Thomas 2.1.1701 Monks Kirby,Thomas 14.1.1703 MK of Easenhall,

William buried 22.9.1730 At Monks Kirby
Dorcas buried 7.1.1745

It would all fit nicely.
Sorry I've duplicated some bits as CoIC beat me too it.

Thank You for your replies.
I just had another look and I think William firstly married Elizabeth and I think I have Elizabeth dying 20 Feb 1725 Monks Kirby, Warw.
He then goes on to marry a Mary E? 4 May 1736 Harborough.
Then William dying 1793 Monks Kirby.

Did Mary die before or after William?
As the burial of Mary 1785 lists her as Widow but I see no burial for a William fitting before that.

Dorchas marries Henry Shaw of Walcote, Leicestershire 2 Feb 1766 Monks Kirby.
I think it has been wrongly transcribed on some records as Dorchas marrying Henry Thos/Thomas because license has Henry Shaw wrote as the name.

I'm sure I've seen one tree List William Buckingham as born in Foleshill? But I cant see this record anywhere?

So It would seem my William Buckingham was bapt 1698 Monks Kirby, Warw. Parents William and Dorchas? Fits as to him naming a daughter Dorchas.
I wonder if the burial of William 1793 is for Williams son who was bapt 1724?

Ive also come across this:
William Buckingham and Dorcas parents of William bapt 6 Apr 1684 Daventry, Northamptonshire.
Same family? Dorcas Buckingham isnt exactly a common name so could this be an earlier son?
There is also William Buckingham bapt Nov 1663 Frankton, Warw son of Edward and Ann.
