I've got a relative - male - whose first name was Aeneas.  Apparently, Greek origins.

It would be equivalent of either my parents or grand parents.  Unfortunately he is a cousin.  I definitely cannot see any Greek influence.  It may have come from the Latin they would have studied in their schooling in those times.

My apologies for this, BUT

"Which of your great grandparents had the funniest name?"

By today's standards, almost all of our great grandparents did NOT have funny names!!  :-X  :-*   I think it might be termed "perception".

Transcriptions and NBI are merely finding aids.  They are NOT a substitute for original record entries.

I've got a relative - male - whose first name was Aeneas.  Apparently, Greek origins.
Aeneas, mythical hero of Troy and Rome, son of the goddess Aphrodite and Anchises. Related to Trojan royalty, after fall of Troy went to Italy and was revered by Romans as ancestor of Romulus and Remus, mythical founders of Rome.
Henry Purcell composed a popular opera 'Dido and Aeneas' in the late 17th C. and during 18th C there were many depictions of him as a heroic figure in paintings.

BERRY; Lancs.
BORASTON; Salop, Worcs,
