The only damage actually on the copy I have is the white splodges on the right-hand border; everything else is on the original.
As you say, Peter, the copying of the fading - especially on the faces - has not improved it.
I assume the original was taken in Beirut (now Lebanon) where techniques may have differed compared to Manchester.
