The BARBER/CURSONS couple who married in 1848 in the Thetford district have children whose mother's maiden surname is recorded as COUSINS.  They had moved from Norfolk to Islington by 1861.

Sorry It was Cursons not carson.

There were census records showing a Robert, Mary Ann, Alfred born in Yarmouth and William born in Deptford. Again I'm unsure if this is the correct family. But I'm fairly sure there was a brother William :-\

Alfred James was living at 2 Stanton St Deptford before he was married, his witness was Sarah Ann Heath & Henry (unsure of surname)

I'm pretty sure I've seen the address 2 Stanton St somewhere recently..

It is easy enough to follow Robert BARBER's family through the census records.

He was living at 2 Staunton Street from1881 onwards.  If this is the address on Alfred's marriage cert then you have the correct family.

All of the children have CORP as their mother's maiden surname on their birth registrations.

For info 1871 census

Kent Terrace Deptford
Robert, Fireman on board steam ship
Mary Ann
Robert , Frederick , ALFRED 7, William

Alfred's marriage cert (on Anc'y) gives 2 Stanton Street as his address

Could this be their mother?

Thanks for this, I was thinking it could be Mary Ann. I did believe Robert and Mary Ann to be the Parents- I was just unsure due to the name changes. Claiming Peter is Alfred's Father then it's changed to Robert on all the census records made me a bit apprehensive!

I Have found A Robert Barber (Mariner) who married Mary Ann Corp in Greenwich 1866 (They had their children before marriage? , not sure if that's correct?) Mary's father was Charles Page Corp and Robert's father was John Barber.

Although,  I have found contradicting information on a tree that Alfred James' Parents was Robert Barber and Maria Corp. and Robert's parents were William James Barber b.1844 & Charlotte Clarke b.1843. However Roberts & Mary Ann's Marriage certificate states John Barber (blacksmith) is the father of Robert.  :-\

(They had their children before marriage? , not sure if that's correct?)

Mary's father was Charles Page Corp and Robert's father was John Barber.

Is it possible that Robert Barber married both sisters? Children's mmn would still be CORP

Robert BARBER to Maria CORP
Both of this parish
Banns ? Jan, 18th, 25th  Jan 1857
Marriage Place:   Great Yarmouth, Norfolk
Can't see actual m/c on Anc*y to confirm

Did Maria Barber die?

There's this death GRO indexes give her age as 28

BARBER, MARIA age     28     (born c 1837)
1865 S Quarter in GREENWICH  Volume 01D  Page 407

EDIT

It does say that Robert Barber is a widower on 1866 marriage to Mary Ann Corp

This looks to be Robert & Maria on the 1861 census transcribed as BARLER  ::)

Yard in ?
Robert BARBER Head 28 Norwich Norfolk,  stoker in steam vessel
Maria 26 Yarmouth
Mary A E dau 3
Robert son 1
Susanna HALL grand mother 87 formely stoker swife

BARBER, ROBERT   mmn    CORP
1859  D Quarter in YARMOUTH  Volume 04B  Page 18

I have found contradicting information on a tree that
Alfred James' Parents was Robert Barber and Maria Corp.
and
Robert's parents were William James Barber b.1844 & Charlotte Clarke b.1843.

However Roberts & Mary Ann's Marriage certificate states John Barber (blacksmith) is the father of Robert.  :-\

Here's Robert with his father John, blacksmith and he has a sister Mary Ann who's with him on the 1861 census posted above

Wee??s Square
John Barber 38 , blacksmith

ROBERT 18
John 16
Mary A 5
All others born Norwich Thorpe
1851c HO107; Piece: 1813; Folio: 427; Page: 39

This looks to be Mary's birth entry on GRO index - entered twice same vol and page

BARBER, MARY  ANN  mmn   BAXTEN

Volume 13  Page 258

BARBER, MARY  ANN  mmn   BAXTER
GRO Reference: 1847  M Quarter in OF COSLANY IN THE CITY AND IN THE COUNTY OF THE CI  Volume 13  Page 258  Occasional Copy: B

Lynch Green
John Barber 30 blacksmith

John 6
ROBERT 7
All born in this county
1841c HO107; Piece: 777; Hethersett; County: Norfolk; ED: 9; Folio: 12; Page: 17

It might be worth checking the 1857 marriage for Robert Barber to Maria Corp
to confirm father's names
