WAAF and ARP records
« on: Tuesday 06 February 18 15:01 GMT (UK) »
I have found my grandmother's WAAF service number on the National Archives site. Does anyone know what information is normally found on service records before I do paperwork to order them?

Also ... I have found from the 1939 register that my great grandfather was ARP. Are there records for this?

Thanks in advance!!

Assuming the WAAF records follow the style of RAF records ......there will be personal details (date of birth, NOK, etc) plus details of courses taken, promotions and postings (my RAF uncle was sent all over England!).

Not looked for ARP records.....yet.  ;)

Hi,

Firstly a very warm welcome to RootsChat! :)

I asked the same question re ARP records myself a little while back & this is the answer that I received.

Unfortunately ARP personnel records have not survived.

See the link to the National Archives here: http://www.nationalarchives.gov.uk/help-with-your-research/research-guides/bomb-census-survey-records-1940-1945/

You will have to scroll down to section number 7 for the appropriate information.

Hope this helps.

Kind regards

David

Thanks for ARP info!  That's kind of sad about the records
