Looking for James Sheldrick/Sheldrake
« on: Tuesday 06 February 18 22:15 GMT (UK) »
Hi
Ive been stuck for awhile looking for my 6th grt grandfather James Sheldrick/Shildrick/Sheldrake etc.

He marries Mary Moore 21 Oct 1794 Stretham,Cambs.
James dies 1846 Stretham and birthdate is given as 1769.
The only James Shildrick/Sheldrick/Sheldrake which fits this is a James Shildrack bapt 16 Sep 1768 Whittlesford, Cambs. But this James seems to goe onto Marry Sarah Heffer 1798 Whittlesford, Cambs and then dies 1816 Whittlesford.
So where did my James come from? He is listed as otp on his marriage to Mary.

Bearing in mind the fact that the information given re a death age is only as good as the knowledge of the person giving it, the age at death could be a few years out.

There is a baptism in Harston, about 15 miles from Stretham, for a James Shildrick. Baptised 24 September 1775 (no year of birth given), parents Richard and Mary.

Thank you.
I have seen the Harston baptism so It looks like a possibility and fits so James was still of age when he married. Ill have to look into, Sheldrick isn't exactly a common name so that helps.
