George Arthur Thompson B 1941
« on: Wednesday 07 February 18 13:27 GMT (UK) »
Hi i am posting this for a friend. George Arthur Thompson was her nannas brother, he was placed in Dr Barnardos in Hull around 1953/54 after his mother died. They were later told he had been shipped to Australia either for adoption or he was adopted before he went. There seems to be a bit of confusion as she was told the home was on Holderness rd but when i checked it was on Beverley rd and was called Open every Door and closed in 1951. Does anyone have info on any other Dr Barnardos homes around Hull for this period of time.

Hi Lisa, I have seen that one, he would have been 16 and I don't think they sent them at that age. I know Barnardos only kept them until age 16 yrs.

Hi Dawnsh, yes that was one post I put on yesterday as I thought I had found him but then my friend said he didn't go into Barnardo's until after 1953. I don't know how to delete the post.

Have you tried this? They do a free initial search to see if they where sent to Australia or Canada? I notice that all the children are roughly the same age and the dob would fit in with him.

Hi Lisa, yes I have given her info on Barnardos but after the initial £15 for searching they want ,£70 and £80 for packages of paper work which I think is very expensive.

You can add a postem to the freebmd entry, so that if he or his relatives come looking for him they can make contact that way.

If spending £80 leads to finding him, how much money is that worth?
