margaret & Jane Evans
« on: Wednesday 07 February 18 18:13 GMT (UK) »
I don't know if anyone can help me but I am trying to find an 1841 census for Liverpool for the two above.

What I am trying to establish whether they were born in the county as my Margaret and Jane were born in St Helier Jersey.

The number I have picked up for them is HQ107, Piece 558/17 on page 26

Any assistance gratefully recieved

Eileen

It says "N" - not born in county

Oakes Street Liverpool

Harriet Moore 25 N
Harriet Moore 6 N
George Moore 3 N
Jane Evans 5  dressmaker N
Margaret Evans 15 dressmaker N

Not sure I would want a dress made by a 5 yr old!

Thanks for that did it also say what they did for a living.  i.e. were they in service.  Could you give me the transcript?

Thank you for you quick response

I think the ages might be wrong I think Margaret and Jane were both born between 1817-1819 in St Hellier.   The next sibling was Elizabeth born in Ireland 1821 she was married to Robert Forshaw by the 1841.  Father was a soldier. Then settled in Liverpool as a shoemaker in Circus St.  There were 9 siblings but by the 1841 census I have only proved 4 of them.

Does it say what the position of the head of the household held

Thanks

Eileen
