Howden Family of All Saints Parish, Barony of Raphoe North, Donegal
« on: Thursday 08 February 18 13:25 GMT (UK) »
Hi everyone,

Have just stumbled across a reference to a Howden family, from what appears to be an application for an old age pension by Mary McCarron (nee Howden).

On the attached document it notes that Mary is the daughter of Tom Howden and Anne. In the 1851 census she is 'found' to be living with siblings Susan Howden aged 17, James Howden aged 11 (who appears to be my ancestor who went on to marry Sarah Devlin), Tom Howden aged 13, Mary Howden aged 7 (who appears to have been baptised 1844), and Willie Howden aged 5.

Do any local experts know if any more info or where more info could be found on this family?

From all indications the family name was also spelt Howdon, Houden, Houdan, Houghton and Hutton.

I can find no other Howden family in the All Saints area at the time, where Thomas and Anne are parents. The family was from the townland of Drummay.

How is the best way to trace this family in County Donegal?

Kind Regards,

Anthony
