Guglielmo Biagi 1880 & Carolina Lemetti Irvine & Barga
« on: Thursday 08 February 18 20:34 GMT (UK) »
Any Scottish/Italians that can help me out here.
My uncle Leonardo (Leo) Biagi & Rosa (Rose) Bechelli ran an ice cream parlour for many years in Irvine.
My father was Rodolfo Biagi (became Ralph Gordon).
His father - Guglielmo Giuseppe Biagi 22 Oct 1880 Barga. (later lived in Irvine, Ayr before returning to Barga) married Carolina Lemetti also from Barga.
I cannot find her father.
I believe Carolina's mother was Maria Corrieri? for whom I have no parents either.
I know I had a great uncle Giorgio Lemetti who owned the bar Ponye Di Campia in San Pietro en Campo.
I have Guglielmo's mother & father as Raffaello Biagi 1848 in San Pietro en Campo & Adele Pelegrini 1845 in Castelvecchio.
I have both of their fathers but no mothers.
All a bit hard to explain in a few sentences. But I would greatly appreciate any input at all.

Is Amos Biagi a relative?
Father:    Raffaello Biagi
Mother:    Pellegrini Biagi

found him in the  UK, Naturalisation Certificates and Declarations, 1870-1916 going to Ayr 1911
Born 3 Jun 1879 Barga, marriage 1913 on Scotlands People to Ada Isabellas Baird
Address 20 Maybole Street

There's quite a few records to browse but I can't speak Italian!

Did see there were births in Barga...hopefully I'm in the right province!

and there is a lot of detail just looking at an odd page

Amos Biagi is Guglielmo's brother.
Barga is part of Lucca province.

Just re-read your reply.
I had not realised that Amos came over here, looks promising as it may open something up.
Some of the family came to Scotland from Barga and then went on to the USA.

Have found the marriage lists you refer to.
One book is missing and guess what! It's the one I need ie. I know they married Nov. 1905.

Hello Mike, Guglielmo BIAGI is my great grandfather also, so it seems we are distant cousins.  I am trying to trace his birth/death certificates.  Have you by any chance been through that process already?  Many thanks, Mark

Hi
My uncle Leo and aunt Rosa had the Biagi ice cream parlour in Irvine.
I used to travel up on my motor bike occasionally but that was mainly to see my cousin Carla  ;D, (not the ice cream as good as it was) until life took us in different directions.
But great days.
Mike
