Isabel (Isabella) Wilson 1852
« on: Saturday 10 February 18 15:12 GMT (UK) »
Trying to find any information on Isabel (Isabella in 1861 census) Wilson, she was born 17 October 1852 in Banff to Alexander Wilson (1815-1888) and Elizabeth Spence (but also goes by the name Isabel to confuse matter more).  The family were in the 1861 census at 2 Wallace Street, Peterhead but although mum and brother James are still there in 1871 she is not on the census.  Does anyone have her in their family tree or have any suggestions?  Thanks.

No luck either with the 1871 census. Perhaps she was not recorded that night - it does happen.

Do you know if/when she married.

Might be a long shot but there is a marriage in 1877 for an Isabella Wilson to William Hay in Peterhead on Scotlands People Index. Further census records for her under the name of Hay has her birth place as Peterhead. If she moved to Peterhead as a young child possibly did not know she was born in Banff.

Hope this helps.

Thanks Sandra, thanks to that post I realised that I had the wrong mum for Elizabeth Spence but Fordyce put me back on track but have been unable to go any further back with that particular family line.
