Just looked at the image for the birth record and the page number is 125.  It is all typed and is, to me, clearly a 2 comparing with other twos on the page.

Can't double check on the GRO as it only goes up to 1917.

He appears to have been illegitimate so if you want info on his ancestry you need to buy a copy of his birth cert to get his mothers christian name as advised in my earlier reply.

If you want information about his adult life - you need to establish whether his mother married and whether he had any siblings or half siblings.  You can then try and find any who are still alive who may have info.

Until you know his mothers christian name you can’t look for a marriage.  Check freebmd and you will find quite a lot of female Strawbridge marriages in Devon  post 1922

Why are you researching this person as it’s not clear from your post or replies?  You have said that the only connection is the surname so how have you singled this person out of the many people with the Strawbridge surname.

Rosie 99 - the only info I have is a birth cert and a death cert. 

I would class a duplication of my information as a way of the experts on the forum confirming the details I already have which were not amounting to much.

From the information I have received on here, it is obvious that I need to obtain a birth cert for Lionel and get his mothers name/s which is very helpful in that it means I know which direction to go in to further my search.

A family member remembered Lionel from years ago but never got to ask him about where he was from to determine if he was a relation.  So due to the internet being a link to a service such as a forum, I said that I would try and see what I could find.

Lionel does not appear to have left a will which may have provided additional info

Are you absolutely sure he was born in 1922 as there is another with identical details also born Devon in 1930

This one appears to have died in 1996 with an Exeter registration, birth date 16 April 1930.

If you are after information on his career have you tried newspaper archive sites.  If you are after contacting relations have you tried facebook.
