Frank Bryan
« on: Sunday 11 February 18 04:06 GMT (UK) »
I have reached a brick wall with my ancestor Frank Bryan. His birth date and location always changes on different records. But I can tell you he was born in Texas or Oklahoma and it was in the 1890s. His parents are either born both in Oklahoma or both in Texas or one born in each state.  He married Velma Bell in 1919 in Oklahoma. The last time I have for sure him on record is the 1940 Census when he is living in Albuquerque, New Mexico. After his wife died that year he left his family and I don't know what happened to him. If you could help me, that would be wonderful.

Thank you,
Audrey Stauffer

An online family tree says that Frank died 23 Sep 1970 in Waco, TX, and that he was born 12 Jan 1896 in Arnett, TX.  However, the middle initial is different, so it may not be the same one.  Perhaps if you can find an obituary or probate record you will be able to confirm or disprove this.

I also saw the online tree referred to - a lot of work done on it (and a photo of Frank & Velma, if it's the same one, there are a few others) - BUT Unless he was living a double life - I can't see how Frank Perryman BRYAN is the same person? He's in a separate 1920 & 1940 Census and has a separate  WW1 Draft Enlistment to Audrey's Frank.

Audreys Frank
1917: WW1 Draft Enlistment - Enfaula TX on 5 June 1917
Frank BRYAN 23, born 2 Apr 1894 in Ft Worth, TX
Home address, Enfaula Okla.
Occupation: Livery & -------- for J E KNOWLES of Enfaula, Okla.
Has no person (parent, wife, child, sibling) who is dependent on him.
Marr (ied)
Description: Med Height & Build, Brown Hair & eyes
Signed: Frank Bryon (sic)

1919: Marriage License issued & Married in McAlester, Pittsburg Cy, in Oklahoma.
Frank BRYAN 24, Resident of Enfaula, McIntosh Cty, Oklahoma
Velma BELL 20, of McAlester Pittsburg Cty, Oklahoma
18 August 1919

Frank Perryman BRYAN on the other hand, enlisted for his WW1 Draft (5+ hours way modern driving time)  on same day, 5 June 1917:
Age 21, born 13 Jan 1896 in Arnett TX
Home address, Gatesville TX
Occupation: Farmer (self employed)
Has no person (parent, wife, child, sibling) who is dependant on him.
Single
Description: Med Height & Build, Brown Hair & eyes
