Court family of Waltham
« on: Sunday 11 February 18 11:38 GMT (UK) »
Hi

I'm trying to trace the pedigree of my ancestor Catherine Court b.1669 at Petham. Her parents were Thomas Court and Elizabeth Hayward, married at Waltham in 1655.

A study of the parishes nearby to Waltham show a large number of Court individuals in the area some of which have wills dated between late 1400's, when they were known as A'Court, to early 1700's.

My initial research suggests my Thomas was baptised in 1612 at Waltham the son of William, of which there are two William's present at that time.

Does anyone know of an existing documentated pedigree for this family, or has looked into tracing the Court's as part of their own family tree?

I do have some Petham/Stelling Courts in my ancestry, though not as far back as yours. I can't find your Catherine, b 1669 in the parish registers on FindMyPast?

I do have a (3rd party owned) pedigree of the Court family (includes your Katherine). I can't send it to you because I have it on the understanding it's only for my use.

26/6/1612 Thomas Court (of Yockletts) whose 1st wife was Jone Hogben and 2nd Elizabeth Hayward.

Thomas was the son of William 11/9/1575 and Ann Coleman

William (of Sheepcourt) was the son of Matthew & Mary __ before 1540

Matthew Court (of Sheepcourt) was the son of Clement Court (died 1542) and his wife Elizabeth nee Hogben (Eliz then married George Carter of Crundale in 1542)

Matthew was the son of Thomas A Court yeoman of Waltham died 1528

Foord (Kent - Aldington, Stanford area)
Philpot (Kent - Alexander Philpot died 1601 Ashford)

Hi David,
The Court Family Pedigree that you have, does it include other lines on it or just those descended from Thomas A'Court of Shetecourt, Waltham? I am descended through Arnold A'Court, brother of Clement and another son of the above Thomas.
Thanks, Gerelle.

Found it! Arnold is mentioned as being the son of Thomas A Court yeoman of Waltham d1528. It shows Arnold as marrying a Joan ___. And that, alas, is it... Sorry if I raised your hopes

Not at all. That is exactly the same information I have, except that I have Thomas A'Court as a possible son of Clement A'Court of Waltham and that Arnold A'Court is the brother of Clement, Hamon and most likely Nicholas.
I was just wondering if your pedigree showed any relationship of this line of the family to Robert A'Court (Will 1499), George A'Court (Will 1497/8), Thomas A'Court (Will 1488), Simon A'Court (Will 1486) or Thomas Courte (Will 1498)?
Thanks, Gerelle
