I’m trying to find more information about the parents of

Jane Sherwood born 1819 Newcastle Upon Tyne, baptised 20 Oct 1819, daughter of Susanna Sherwood, widow. Residence at the time, Ouseburn. On the baptism record it just states widow and not fathers name.

Jane married Alexander Robson on 9 Dec 1838, All Saints, Newcastle Upon Tyne but I’ve not been able to find their marriage record

Any pointers please?

Thank Emeltom, I didn’t explain myself clearly. I have looked through the Durham Bishops transcripts for All Saints and haven’t been able to find the marriage in there. I was hoping it may have listed the fathers name. I can’t find anything regarding Susanna Sherwood, the mother. I don’t know if she married a Sherwood, which is implied, or if in fact she was born Sherwood. I can’t find a Sherwood marriage or Sherwood parents that would fit.

JANE Sherwood 21 Feb 1818 age 5 mths, Daug* of JAMES, abode Bigg Market
JAMES Sherwood 24 Sep 1832 age 55,  Cited as James SHERWOOD Senr**

So possible James Jnr was the Husband of Susanna, they named a Daug Jane born about 21 Oct 1817 just after James died.
Susanna a widow names her daug Jane after the 1st child.

Could they possibly have married at St Ann in Newcastle?  This Church is near the Ouseburn and in the All Saints parish I believe.

That sounds like a very promising lead. It would imply that my Susanna was a Sherwood by marriage then, and that daughter Jane was illegitimate, but she was indeed a widow?

Jane's marriage cert should give details regarding her father or possibly lack of one.

That sounds likely. I’ve just had a look through the online records on Family a Search for St Ann’s and 1838 seems to be a missing year 🙁

The James Sherwood who died age 23 may be Susannas Husband.
