Hello and a warm welcome to RootsChat  :).

Possibilities....

Baptism:

Baptized 08 Sep 1912
Methodist Church Fairmount St Montreal

Baptism:

Nancy Lily Ingham Taylor
Parents Herbert Taylor and his wife Lily Sherlock of 44 St Louis St Quebec (City)
Born 14 Dec 1920
Baptized 18 Oct 1928
Chalmers (Church) Manse Quebec

Marriage:

Hebert Taylor Machine Fitter of Montreal
Son of William Taylor and Martha Walsh of Lancashire England
To
Lily Sherlock Spinster
Daughter of Moses Sherlock of Manchester England and the late Jessie Facey

Both of full age
29 Jul 1911
Methodist Church Verdun (Montreal)

About the 1921 census......

Where it says 'Chef', that is French for head of household. William's occupation is near the end of the line, 'Rentier', which roughly translates as living on private means.

The district they are living in is St Anne de Beaupré.

Another daughter.....

Mary Martha Taylor
Parents Herbert Taylor and Lily Sherlock
Born 25 Nov 1913
Baptized 21 Dec 1913

MacVicar Memorial Presbyterian Church Montreal Annex

So it looks like 3 people are now missing from the 1921 census. The parents and Mary Martha are all still alive in 1941....they have all signed the marriage register at Nancy's wedding. So they must be somewhere in 1921.

Civil registration did not start in Quebec until 1994 (yes!) so all records up to this time are parish records, in the Drouin Collection. Images of these records up to about 1941 are available on line through the Ancestry website. If you don't have a world or Canadian sub, check if your local public library subscribes to Ancestry Library Edition....the record images are also available this way.

Thank you for info.  I know that he was born 1861 in Edinburgh and was at a
an address, Nelson Junction Quebec, on 1st October 1915.   He is mentioned in his parents will of that date and the assumption to date is that he was alive when the parents died.  The possibility of a ww1 death has not been looked at.    I did notice that the census does have a birth month which I now realise does not match the birth registration [January] on the William Taylor of my enquiry.  Guilty of taking shortcuts again.
