1889 diary p36 Lord Chesterfield's appearance

Having read about Lord Chesterfield's letters in the Quarterly Review our diarist made comments some of which I struggle with. The xxxxxx has been a challenge, Can you help?

"almost immediately after his death – Chesterfield seems
to have had a finely formed person & a face of
the greatest beauty
"

Knowing how the letter l often all but disappears before a y, I venture to suggest ... finely formed person ?
