Hi
There wont be an official death certificate unless they left an estate at those dates
This estate files that is possible
MOOC   6/9/306   1625   WHITE, JOHN GEORGE. DEATH NOTICE.   1892   1892
cannot find one for Amelia - here is a link for the above file

I see there is a notation next to Amelia's name "Not Reported", so possibly there is no official Death Certificate for her.

Thank you both for your replies and the link to certificate. That is him ok.

The person signing the document Charles Frederick Patten was a missionary at Bolotwa. His wife Louisa was one of the daughters listed. I think she died in 1929 - CFP dying in 1917?. One of their daughters married a Mr Cassidy.
Amelia, the wife who died in 1884 maybe buried in Bolotwa or nearby towns. However, I haven't found any headstone or indeed burial place for JGW or Amelia.

Hi

Can't find one for CFP but this is likely his son, parents names fit, place of birth given as Bolotwa

His will is attached, as well as the distribution account. Just click onto the next image

Unfortunatelly you may not find a gravestone - a lot of the cemeteries in SA have been let go to ruin and have been vandalised. There is an on-going project to photograph memorials and the photographs are being published on eggsa.org - that mission has not been photographed as yet.

Is there an archive or library in the Bolotwa/ Queenstown area that might have information on settlers from 1870 onwards?

If I were to hazard a guess I would think that sort of info would more likely be held at the Port Elizabeth Archives, depending on what information you are looking for.

I don't know if this will be of any help, not sure where you have done searches

http://www.southafricansettlers.com/

You could also try geni.com, they have a lot of South Africa info on there as well.
