Eleanor Penry's maiden name
« on: Wednesday 14 February 18 16:13 GMT (UK) »
Hi all,

I've been having a discussion in the Essex section regarding Thomas Hill and Eleanor Penry: http://www.rootschat.com/forum/index.php?topic=787826.0

They were married in Bromley St Leonard in 1801, as you can see in the thread, but the marriage states Eleanor is a widow. We've so far been unable to find an original marriage for Eleanor showing her maiden name, and I don't have any census information showing where and when she might have been born. Can anyone help out?

Best wishes
Samuel

I looked for possible deaths for her 1st husband, there are a few Penry deaths around 1800 - Roger 1796 and John 1799, but could not tie them to an Eleanor? marriage.

Thank you. Yes, it's really very frustrating. I checked for Penry births to an Eleanor as well and there aren't any. There aren't any obvious alternative spellings of Penry either.

Haha. Just had a look and there is a marriage between Eleanor Wight and John Penny in 1796 in Sunbury-on-Thames. Could tie in with the 1799 death of John Penry mentioned earlier. Quite a distance from Bromley-by-Bow, though.
