Margaret Barbara Christina WOOD :

The above child was born on 14 March 1917 :
Parents:  Barbara Frances Honor and William WOOD.
Her birth was registered at :  Taihape.
[Source:  Info from indexes only. ]
----
I have made a fairly thorough search of a variety of records and I don't believe this child died in infancy.

There is nothing listed [source: NZ Birth Index @ ancestry.com ] to show that a name change has occurred which might indicate a child has been formally adopted.

No (NZ) Marriage record found (searched on all of the christian names and diminutives of same - also used mother's maiden surname) ...  and followed up some that may have been possibilities :  Result:  Nil.

Deaths (NZ)  =  Nil.
----

Ashley ... have you been in touch with others who have researched the BANFIELD family of Christopher Harvey BANFIELD and Margaret (nee RANKIN) ???
On one - and I can't remember which - it showed two children born to Barbara.   As I recall the names of children given were "Jean and William".    Do you know anything about this ???

William WOOD :

Court appearance at Stratford (Taranaki) :

http://paperspast.natlib.govt.nz/newspapers/STEP19180410.2.7

^    Whilst the wife in this article is not named, it does seem more likely than not, that the William WOOD (living at the small settlement of Ohutu), was the person who was married to Barbara (nee BANFIELD).

                                                                                       see following >  >

Of interest also in this Court appearance, there is no mention of "children of the union" requiring support (maintenance).   ???

Hi. Thank you for all this information.

To Lucy2 I did come across a Jean being mentioned - I thought it was wrong. Do you think Jean and William could be correct as I couldn't find a birth certificate for them? Could they have died in child birth?

Hi Ashley

I really think you will need to put the question of "Jean and William" (children of Barbara), to the person who has them in their tree.

  *    You still haven't explained though how you come to have Barbara and William in your "tree".    ???
*   How are you related to them ???

Just wondering what's mentioned in the "Living Issue" column.
