Bernard and Francis Traynor / Treanor/ Trayner
« on: Thursday 15 February 18 18:14 GMT (UK) »
Struggling to find anything about these two!  Francis Traynor was married in Hull in 1866, age 30, putting his DOB at around 1836.  His place of birth/origin are listed in census variously as Ireland or Belfast, but a biog of his son states Francis was a Flax Dresser from Co Monaghan.  I cannot find when he came to England.  His father, Bernard, was listed on the marriage cert as a Farmer (deceased), so died some time before 1866.  Francis could not sign his name, so I guess the original surname could be any of the variants.  He was Catholic.  I would ideally like to find out anything more about Francis' parents and any siblings he might have had.  They appear to be quite common names so any ideas how to pin down the right ones?  ???
Thanks

HI there are 12 records for name Bernard Traynor in various parishes in Co Monaghan mid 1850's you can view these at www.nationalarchives.ie Griffith Valuation records.

The Rc church records are online www.registers.nli.ie but you would need to know the original parish .

There are no civil records available until 1864 you could try www.irishgenealogy.ie for Traynor name

You could also check the 1901 census on www.nationalarchives.ie several Traynors in Monaghan including name Bernard (name could have come down through the family)

Same  site for Tithe applotment records has 1 Bernard Traynor in Parish of Aghnamullan Place name Tullaraine 1829

Thank you for such a speedy reply!  I did find the Bernards on Griffiths but have no idea of which, if any, would be "mine".  I will check out your other suggestions.
Thanks again.
