Boardman? Knox c1800
« on: Friday 16 February 18 02:47 GMT (UK) »
Hi,

Looking for some help tracking down this man- Boardman Knox (first name possibly Daniel?) I have his son Theodore V. Knox born November 1827 Livermore, Maine. On Theo's death in 1899 in Fayette, Maine his parents are down as Boardman and Ada Knox but I can't find a birth for Theo or any other mention of Boardman and Ada. Theodore married Betsey Ridley and had son Daniel B in 1862 before enlisting for the civil war and then daughter Abby M in 1866, Charles B in 1868, Sarah R 1871, Lee Ridley 1873, Ethel 1875 and Effie 1876.

I don't have time to look right now, but I notice that there is a small cluster of people named Boardman Knox in Massachusetts.  It might be worth poking around there if you haven't already done so.

Thank you for pointing that out, it seems too unusual a name to not be connected somewhere. They are all mid to late 1800's which I have little problem with, it seems to be very tricky finding anything before. Theo was born in 1827 Livermore, ME but I can't find a birth, it would not surprise me if his father was from Mass.

"it would not surprise me if his father was from Mass."

No, it wouldn't surprise me, either.  I have a lot of Maine ancestors and there was a good bit of movement from Massachusetts to Maine and vice versa.

Have you seen this?  Not that it sheds any light on Theo.

Thanks,

I hadn't seen the book but I have seen the extract about Stacey and Daniel Knox whilst searching for Theo. It is interesting as they're in Livermore but without something to connect them i'm still at that brick wall.
