Hi Bbart,

Thank you for that.

Would you have the link or details for the 1901 Census for 51 Scott? It would be good to look at the parents that are noted as it looks like John Webb could be my Great Grandfathers dad on my mums side.

Many thanks,

I think I have managed to find the record and it has the following living there in 1901 so the John Webb that went onto perhaps marry Jane Nightingale must be John J Webb the Head of the house as his son would not have been old enough.

John J Webb   Head     Male   38   Woodham Walter, Essex
Mary Webb   Wife   Female   32   Whitechapel, London
John Webb   Son   Male   7   Canning Town, Essex
Elizabeth Webb   Daughter   Female   6   Canning Town, Essex
Rebecca Webb   Daughter   Female   4   Canning Town, Essex
Henry Webb   Son   Male   1   Canning Town, Essex

You are looking at the wrong entry for Scott Street in 1901, the house number is 51
Reference  RG13 /Piece 1583 F72 p15

This is the family in 1901 - please ignore the name of Woodstock as it should be Webb it has been transcribed wrongly (Extracted from F M P )

Thanks Rosie,

I don't know where to go to find the details of that record, to see who is listed there.

Any help or can you paste it in here if you are able to see it.

Many thanks

Thanks for that, Rosie99.  I think I must be in the opposite time zones; hence my delay in getting back.

Also in the same household of 51 Scott in 1901 (probably not included in the index at either Anc or Familysearch, as it was the next page of census) are:

Joseph Webb head age 33 dock labourer, born Plaistow Essex
Emma Webb wife, 31, born Canning Town, Essex
Lily, dau, age 7 , born Canning Town, Essex
Joseph, son, age 6 born Canning Town, Essex
Elizabeth, dau, age 3, born Canning Town, Essex
Frederick, son, age 2 months, born Canning Town, Essex

It must have been a crowded house!

I think you have hit the frustrating part of family research, in that there is no way to prove or disprove who the father of the younger Nightingale children is.   >:(
