There is more info about him on the other thread!  He was a warehouseman, was at home on 1939 register, but away in war years, etc.

The other post indicates he was not with the family in 1939.  Last mention of him was 1922

I've just got my grandmas death certificate out and it says at her death she was "A Wife/Widow " so it's sounds like she-or my mum and aunt didn't know if he was dead or a live !.

It says he was a paper maker, Heywood and his dad Thomas was a size maker foreman.

Could he be Irish? There is a Richard Barry, son of Thomas Barry and Margaret Barry Brown born in 1879 at Edendarif, Down, Ireland on Ancestry. I can't find him later though (still looking).

You may have to be patient but he could be with the family in the 1921 census  :)

It looks as though he was  ;) according to the other thread

A few more details to add to the picture

Electoral roll for Arnley 1920, 21 & 22;
5 Wallace Street
Barry, Mary Jane
Barry, Richard

After 1922 it seems Mary Jane is on her own.

Absent Voters list 1918 West Leeds
5 Wallace Street
Barry, Richard - 2nd South Staffs. Regt.

There only appears to be one medal card for a Richard Barry in the South Staffs regiment.  Private 41846 awarded Victory & British medals.
