Est Date Please Turnbull & Sons
« on: Friday 16 February 18 16:29 GMT (UK) »
Trying to estimate the date of this photo.  There is nothing on the back, it is a copy.  I thought perhaps late 1800 or even early 1900 but after looking at the various Turnbull logos and this lads clothing and hair I am at a loss.

Thank you.

I'm not all that confident dating  boys/male photos but I'd think this was  late 1890s -maybe a bit later but not much.

Hopefully, Jim will come along.

Well I thought early 1870s as the corners appear to be square which were phased out in favour of the round corners in the early 1870s

My first thought was 1870's & as Carol said the square corners are from the early decade but could be up to around 1877.

It certainly like a tatty 1870s card stock, Carol. I was going by his hair style and collar/tie. As I said, I'm never confident with male pics.

Added - now found 3 or 4 pics of older men with outfit/neck attire like that in Shrimpton, dated 1870s.
Got another book on order  :)

Thanks all for your help.  I am quite confident I now know who he is based on a 1870's photo and not who I imagined it was.  He was b 1864.
