Identification help please.
« on: Friday 16 February 18 18:13 GMT (UK) »
Another picture from my Grandparents Album and not a bridge in sight :P. This one does have a date. I would love to discover what the chain is, is it a Mayoral chain?   I am not sure if this is right place to post, I feel it is Sussex related and that  she is a relative of my Grandmother and identifying chain could help find out who she is.

Hi JJ,

The chain does look quite similar to the one your dad is wearing in your profile photo, although the insignia (if that is the right term) hanging from it is different.

I have searched online for anything similar but so far no luck  :-\

At least this will bump your post up and hopefully get the attention of others who may have suggestions.

Thanks Jool. I think all Mayoral chains look similar. The mayoresses had a chain too but I know it's not Arundel. I was stand in mayoress many times.  I too searched online. However, not necessarily mayoral. For example the Masons have similar and Oddfellows but I know they are men only. But she could be a mattress.

Just a thought as the chain is so similar to your father's. Could it be the wife of the Mayor of Arundel in 1944?  I see that this would be R. W. Pearson ( quals suggest he was a GP).

I'm still laughing   ;D ;D ;D

I have to admit I did at first wonder if it was a term for a female mason that I was not familiar with  :-[, googling just gave me the option of single, double or king size  ;D

No its not Arundel but  R.W. Pearson was the local G.P. Here is pic of mum wearing the Arundel Mayoress chain.  Its very delicate and pretty with jewels and the Arundel Swallow in centre. and is more expensive than the Mayoral chain.
