Fathers profession..please help:)

Hi can anyone possibly help me work out what the profession of his father is from this marriage certificate at all please as its driving me crazy!?
The word above last in brackets.

First one is Farmer and second entry is Of independant means

Not sure about the Farmer- although it looks like it - as it says Master after it. I've never come across Master farmers before! This usually implies that the person has undertaken an apprenticeship and is now qualified and is 'self employed' as opposed to journeyman (fully qualified but working for someone else).   So it might be Farrier but the 4th letter does look like an m.

I think I would try to find further evidence from another source.

I think I've found James with his mother in / Ashton under Lyne/, b. Droylsden, Lancs on the 1881. His mother was Ellen and listed as unmarried.  His father could be fictitious or not.

I followed James forward and backwards so I think I have found the correct person.

1901/1911 James is born c 1879/1881 Droylsden, Lancashire.

Could he have lied on Cert?

This may be them in 1881;
